A Topic Filter is a function that allows you to apply a filter across all data series and graphs within a single topic.
This makes it easy to analyze results for specific groups — for example, by gender, age, region, or income level — without having to adjust each graph individually.
How to set up Topic Filters
Setting up Topic Filters means making filter options available within your topic, so users can later use them directly in Trend Monitor.
- Go to your Trend Monitor and open the topic where you want to add a Topic Filter.
- Click the settings icon (three dots) on the topic and select edit.
- Under Filter settings, choose which filter groups you want to make available (e.g. Gender, Age, Region).
- Click Save.
You have now successfully applied a Topic Filter to your topic. The selected filters will now appear as options when clicking the filter icon.
How to Use Topic Filters
Once your topic filters have been applied, you can use them to view results for specific segments directly in the Trend Monitor.
- When inside a Trend Monitor, click the filter icon in the top-right corner.
- You will now see the available filter groups with their respective filters below.
- Click on a filter (for example, Female) to apply it to all data series and graphs in the topic.
- To remove it, simply click the “x” next to the filter name (e.g., Female).
The selected filter is now active across your entire topic, updating all graphs instantly.
Important Notes
- When applying a Topic Filter, it will overwrite any existing filters already set on individual graphs. In other words, you will not have a “filter on top of a filter” — instead, the Topic Filter replaces them.
- You need to have filter groups created in advance to be able to apply them as topic filters.
- Only users with editor or administrator access can set up Topic Filters, but all users can use them.
